Citizens’ Crime Watch of Miami-Dade proudly celebrated its 39th year of service. Each year they host an annual awards ceremony to recognize our crime watchers and law enforcement partners who work closely with local residents.
This year they honored our law enforcement women who have died of breast cancer. The ceremony’s theme was “Declaring War on Breast Cancer: Support the Fight,” also donated was a portion of their silent auction’s proceeds to Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure in honor of these women.
The ceremony was held Sept. 19, 2014 at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Miami Airport & Convention Center, 711 NW 72nd Ave.
Miami-Dade County Commissioner Jose “Pepe” Diaz as the honorary event chair. This year’s keynote speaker was Florida Department of Law Enforcement Special Agent in Charge Addy Villanueva. The master of ceremonies once again was Brian Andrews from CBS 4. This year, more than 500 people attended.
The ceremony recognized the Crime Watcher of the Year, Chairperson of the Year and the Police Officer of the Year for the county and the municipalities for which they partner, and delivered a Citizen Involvement Award to Miami Public Adjuster Jonathan Wilson, CEO of Intellaclaim Public Adjusters. Over the past 5 years, Wilson has volunteered his time supporting countless community outreach efforts encouraging citizens to take an active part in crime prevention efforts within their neighborhood.
